Women whom are forbidden to marry, and marriage is invalid if happened.
"Muharramāt an-nikāh" (non-marriageable women) are women who are unlawful to marry and marriage is invalid if happened. They are of two categories: 1. Eternal "muharramāt": these are women whom a man can never marry due to perpetual reasons: a) Kinship (e.g., mother). b) Marriage (e.g., mother-in-law). c) Breastfeeding (e.g., foster-daughter). 2. Temporary "muharramāt": these are women whom a man can not marry temporarily due to transient reasons: a) Being another man's wife. b) Being in the waiting period after the husband's death. c) Being a non-believing woman.
Women who are permanently or temporarily forbidden to marry, because of a religious reason.
