Any open area between houses in which there is no building.
الشرح المختصر
"‘Arsah" (courtyard/plain) is an open area inside a house (courtyard) or outside it between houses. It is unroofed and is usually surrounded by three or four walls. Its purpose is to provide more light, air, and the like.
