الشرح المختصر
"Riddah" (apostasy) is leaving the religion of Islam for disbelief because of committing something that nullifies one's Islam, i.e. something that corrupts and invalidates one's Islam, be that a belief, a statement, or an action. From the beliefs that nullify one's Islam are: believing that Allah, the Almighty, has a partner, such as the belief that Allah is a part of the 'holy trinity', or that Jesus is the son of Allah, Exalted be He above what they say. From the statements that nullify one's Islam is blaspheming Allah or His Messenger, may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him. From the actions that nullify one's Islam is slaughtering for other than Allah and practicing magic.
