من موسوعة المصطلحات الإسلامية

المعنى الاصطلاحي

Prayers that are missed and not performed in their designated times.

الشرح المختصر

"Fawā’it" (missed prayers) generally refers to acts of worship that are not performed until their Shariah-designated time had passed. The liability remains until they are done. They include the obligatory prayers that are not performed till their designated times elapse, whether they are missed deliberately or for a valid reason, such as menses. Missed prayers are not dropped until the Muslim performs them in full, even after elapsing their specified times.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر

"Fawā’it" (sing. fā’itah): something missed because it is not done on time. Derived from "fawt", which means failing to achieve something.
