Ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Of all the lawful acts, the most detestable to Allah, the Almighty, is divorce."

شرح الحديث :

This Hadīth, if authentic, shows that divorce is disliked in the sight of Allah, the Almighty, although it is originally permissible when it is difficult for the spouses to live together. It is disliked because of the bad consequences on the spouses and their children. Being permissible does not rule out the attribute of undesirability, for Allah, the Exalted, might permit something without liking it, due to relevant violations of the objectives of Shariah. The objective of marriage in Islam is to keep the bond of marriage intact, maintain the families, and to beget offspring. Divorce has reverse impact on all these objectives.
