شرح الحديث :

‘Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) says that the amount that legitimizes cutting off the hand of a thief is when he steals ten dirhams or more. Also, the dowry should not be less than ten dirhams. Specifying a minimum amount for dowries does not accord with Marfū‘ Hadīths that indicates the validity of giving anything as dowry and that anything that has a value can be given as dowry.
