التعريف

Those who upheld the decisions of the Council of Chalcedon which approved that Jesus had two natures: divine and human, and that he was a full God and a full human. It was only the human of him that was crucified and killed, while the deity of him was totally unaffected by that. The Council also decided that Mary gave birth to both the deity and the man, and that both are one, who is the son-of-God. They were called the Melkite because they upheld the view of the Byzantine Emperor who supported the idea of two natures.
