التعريف

A collection of Jewish laws and legislation transmitted orally. It is considered second to the Torah as a source of legislation. Hence they call it the oral Torah. It consists of six parts: 1) Zeraim, which refers to seeds and agriculture; 2) Moed, i.e. festivals; 3) Nashim, i.e. ‘women’ and refers to marriage and divorce; 4) Nezikin, i.e. damages, which is concerned with civil and criminal law; 5) Kodashim, i.e. holy things, such as sacrifice and the temple; and 6) Tohorot, i.e. purification.
