Books in which the authors state the history of hadith narrators which gives their correct names and aid in informing of the status of narrators, their birth and death, learning, travel, teachers, students, acceptability or rejection, etc. They arrange these on the basis of some matter or quality that is common to these, or to their being of similar age, or learning from the same teachers.
