الشرح المختصر
"‘Ishq" (excessive love) is a high level of love. It is extreme love that goes beyond normal limits to the extent that it overwhelms one's heart and mind. It is a heart disease that is very hard to cure. The major causes of "‘ishq" are: turning away from the remembrance of Allah, emptiness of the heart from the love of Allah, gazing freely at and listening to what Allah has made unlawful, as well as other causes that lead the one afflicted with "‘ishq" to transgression either by inflicting harm upon oneself by committing suicide or upon another by sinning, harming or the like.
