"‘Azj" (inability) is of two categories: 1. Actual "‘ajz": the loss of the physical ability to do something, such as not fasting because of sickness. 2. Abstract "‘ajz": the inability to do something because of an impediment, such as the "‘ajz" of a woman to perform the prayer due to her menses or postpartum bleeding.
"‘Ajz": weakness. Original meaning: falling behind. Opposite: "qudrah" (ability).
That a person is unable to do one’s obligations because of illness, hardship, or some financial or other reason.
