Confinement of wealth or property as collateral for a financial obligation.
"Rahn": a contract between two parties which involves mortgaging or pawning something of monetary value as a guarantee for the creditor. If the debtor does not have the ability to pay back his loan or it is not possible to settle it for some reason, the mortgaged property is sold and the creditor gets his dues in full. "Rahn" is essentially setting property as collateral for a loan, such as someone taking a loan from another and placing some real-estate or animal in the possession of the creditor until the loan is settled.
"Rahn": constancy, continuity. The verb "rahana" means: he stayed and settled (in a place). Other meanings: confinement.
To place some valuable article, such as some real property, as a loan security. It will be used or sold to repay the loan in case of insolvency.
