"Ra’s-ul-Maal" (capital) is an economic term that refers to the total assets and initial property used to start a business or a commercial project. Economists classify "ra’s-ul-maal" into two categories: 1. Fixed "ra’s-ul-maal": the items that do not become liquidated (to cash) or traded and are thus not normally part of the commercial process, such as land and machinery. 2. Liquid "ra’s-ul-maal": every item or commodity that is part of the production process and has an immediate value (in cash).
The principal sum of money, with neither profit nor increase.
