"Tanāzu‘" (disagreement/difference) is divided into two categories: 1. Praiseworthy "tanāzu‘": is accompanied by good intention and aims at revealing the truth with evidence and proof. It is more like consultation and kind argument. 2. Blameworthy "tanāzu‘": aims at fulfilling a personal benefit, attaining authority, or promoting disunity, or contains violation of the commands of the Shariah.
"Tanāzu‘": disputing, quarrelling. Derived from "naz‘", which means extracting and pulling. Opposite: "tawāfuq" (agreement). Other meanings: jostling, pulling or pushing in different directions.
A dispute between two or more parties, each of whom claims entitlement to the thing in dispute.
