من موسوعة المصطلحات الإسلامية

المعنى الاصطلاحي

The sale in which a person who lives in a city or village sells goods on behalf of another who lives in the desert, or on behalf of a non-resident, even if he is not a Bedouin.

الشرح المختصر

“Bay`-ul-haadir lil-baadi” (sale by city-dweller on behalf of desert-dweller) is one of the prohibited sales in Islam. It means that a resident of a town sells the merchandise of a non-resident on the latter’s behalf. This non-resident could be a Bedouin, i.e. someone who lives in the desert, or anyone else who enters the town aside from its inhabitants, whether he is a Bedouin or a resident of another village or town. In this sale, the resident acts as an agent for the non-resident, by saying to him, for instance, “Leave your merchandise with me, and I will sell it for you at a higher price.” This involves harming the residents of that town and making matters difficult for them by such price increase.

التعريف

That a city resident undertakes selling a Bedouin’s merchandise, thus acting as the Bedouin’s agent.
