المعنى الاصطلاحي
A group of words from the Noble Qur’an, connected to one another, having a beginning and an end.
الشرح المختصر
"Āyah" (a verse of the Qur’an) is a group of successive words from the Noble Qur’an that has a marked end. Each chapter of the Quran contains such verses. It is called "āyah", which is the Arabic term for "sign", because it is an indicative sign of what the verse includes of rulings. Also, because of what it contains of wondrous stories and allegories that imply lessons and proofs.
