Occurrence of something that breaks one's fast in reality or in effect.
الشرح المختصر
"Iftār" (breaking the fast) is the occurrence of something that breaks one’s fast in reality, such as having food, drink, or sexual intercourse; or in effect, such as ending one’s intention to continue fasting or coming of the due time for fast breaking. When the due time for fast breaking comes, a person is considered breaking his fast even if he has not had any food or drink.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر
"Iftār": breaking one's fast by eating or drinking. Opposite: "sawm" (fasting). It is derived from "fitr", which means split, opening.
