(عَبَثٌ)

من موسوعة المصطلحات الإسلامية

المعنى الاصطلاحي

Doing unnecessary useless actions, which are not part of the prayer, owing to one's lack of concentration.

الشرح المختصر

"‘Abath" (moving unnecessarily) is disliked in prayer because it involves a number of negative aspects, which include the following: 1. Distraction of the heart: Indeed, the body movement indicates the movement of the heart. Therefore, when the body moves, it means that the heart must have necessarily moved. 2. It contradicts the state of seriousness that one should assume during the prayer. 3. It is a movement alien to the prayer movements. This is because prayer has specific movements like standing, sitting, bowing, prostrating, and so on.

التعريف اللغوي المختصر
