المعنى الاصطلاحي
All the distress and pain that afflict a person in the worldly life or the Hereafter as a punishment for his turning away from the truth.
الشرح المختصر
"Dank" (distress) is any suffering that afflicts the person as a result of turning away from the remembrance and worship of his Lord. This includes both worldly afflictions, like worry, pain, and misfortunes, as well as what afflicts him after death, including the punishment, squeeze, and darkness of the grave, in addition to the various forms of torment that he suffers in the Hereafter.
التعريف اللغوي المختصر
"Dank": weakness, feebleness. Original meaning: narrowness of anything. Opposite: "sa‘ah" (spaciousness). Other meanings: hardship, roughness.
