المعنى الاصطلاحي
Turning to Allah the Almighty and turning away from anything other than Him by turning from polytheism towards monotheism, and from misguidance towards uprightness.
الشرح المختصر
"Hanaf" (Inclinatioin to monotheism) is the intentional inclination towards the path of uprightness by adhering to monotheism and shunning polytheism and disassociating oneself from it and from its adherents. "Haneef" means the one inclined towards monotheism while being steadfast upon it. It is, therefore, sincere inclination along with steadfastness.
