المعنى الاصطلاحي
A sect belonging to the extremist Shiites, followers of Banān ibn Ismā‘il at-Tameemi. They claim that Allah, the Almighty, dwelled in ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him, and in his children.
الشرح المختصر
"Al-Banāniyyah" are followers of Banān ibn Sam‘ān at-Tameemi. Of their beliefs is the following: 1. The claim that Allah, the Almighty, was incarnated in a human form and that His spirit dwelled in the body of ‘Ali, may Allah be pleased with him; then in his son Muhammad ibn al-Hanafiyyah; then in his son Hāshim; and then in the body of Banān. 2. Adopting the theory of reincarnation. 3. Claiming that all the parts the body of Allah Almighty will come to an end except for His Face.
